The music was recorded by Mr. Bryan Shaw (Digital Brothers,
Costa Mesa, CA) at the Pacific Grove Performing Arts Center in Pacific Grove, California on January 20, 2007. The Performing Arts Center
was originally built in 1911. The pianist, Mr. Mark Allen Jones and vocalist, Ms. Brady McKay recorded one or two takes of each song. Both
takes of Bedelia and That Lovin Rag were included on the CD. The original sheet music is part of a private music collection. All songs
were sung by Ms. Sophie Tucker before 1922. The songs are listed chronologically based on the date of copyright on each original sheet of
music. The songs for this performance were transposed into different keys by Ms. McKay and Mr. David Hull. The piano breaks between verses
by Mr. Jones were neither arranged nor rehearsed. The piano used for this performance is a restored 1903 Mason and Hamlin upright piano.
Our goal was to attempt to duplicate what the sound of a performance by a vocalist and a pianist would have been from the vaudeville era.
This work is dedicated to Mr. Walter Edward (Ted) Brady, Ms. McKay's father, who passed away on January 20, 2007.
